Wir haben überlebt… den Lärm, den Dreck, den Verkehr, die vielen Leute, den Smog, die blutigen Straßenschlachten, die gefährlichen Mexikaner… Ja, wir haben überlebt und genossen – denn wir können keines der obenen Klischees bestätigen, außer vielleicht, dass das Essen super ist und es viel Corona gibt.
Vor allem Mexiko City hat uns mit seiner Geschichte, dem historischen Zentrum, den netten bunten Vierteln, den Märkten und dem unglaublichen Metro-System komplett überzeugt. Eine gute Idee war mit Sicherheit, in der Semana Santa (Ostern) die Städte zu besuchen, während die Einheimischen zusammen mit den Amis (Spring Break) die Strände belagerten.
Oaxaca City fällt in die Kategorie “übersichtliche Kolonialstadt”, aber mit sehr viel Charme, netten Cafes, ganz vielen, bunten Figuren und schönen Plätzen. Der Ausflug ins Umland war eher trocken…
Mexico City haben wir 3 Tage gewidmet und es hätten ruhig ein paar mehr sein können. Auf den Frida Kahlo’s Spuren im blauen Haus, bei der Karfreitagsprozession und im Palacio Nacional vor den Wandgemälden von Diego Rivera…
Pazcuaru als malerische Kleinstadt besuchten wir dann noch am Ostersonntag.
Was außerdem zum großen Erfolg der Städtetour beigetragen hat, war natürlich unsere Begleitung… in Oaxaca noch Dusha und Philipp aus Stuttgart und dann die lang herbegesehnten Innsbrucker Lena und Domo.

We survived… the noise, the dirt, the traffic, the huge amount of people, the smog, the bloody street fights, the dangerous mexicans… Yes, we survived and enjoyed – because we can’t confirm any of those stereotypes – except that the food is super good and there is a lot of Corona around.
We especially enjoyed Mexico City with its history, the nice center city, the many colourful quarters, the markets and the good metro system. For sure it was a good idea to visit those cities during Semana Santa (easter holidays) while all the locals plus all the US people (Spring Break) went to the coast.
Oaxaca City is a nice little colonial town with a lot of charme, nice cafes, many colourful, wooden figures to buy and the awesome squares.
We’ve been to Mexico City for 3 days and could have spent a few more even. Among others we visited Frida Kahlo’s Blue House, the unbelivable Good Friday Procession and the Palacio Nacional with the incredible mural paintings of Diego Rivera.
Beautiful Pazcuaro was our last city stop that we’ve been to on Easter Sunday.
What also was a big part for the success of our city trips, of course, was our amazing company. First Ducha and Philipp from Stuttgart (Germany) then the Innsbruck couple that we were looking forward to so hard… Lena and Domo!
